Singapore's Ministry of Education builds AI literacy into students' digital competencies through the curriculum, co-curriculum and enrichment activities, including AI literacy modules in the Code for Fun programme, and gives teachers foundational AI knowledge with guidance on ethical and pedagogical considerations, risks, limitations and age-appropriate use. MOE's guidance on generative AI for the Student Learning Space sets out how teachers and students should use these tools responsibly.
MOE frames the use of generative AI as conditional: students benefit when they have already grasped the foundational concepts and thinking skills, and teachers are guided on using the tools safely and effectively. MOE also publishes an information sheet for parents, "AI in Education: Resources for Parents", on supporting a child's responsible use.
International schools in the region are setting their own policies alongside that national picture, and Dan's keynotes give leadership teams and staff a shared way to decide what AI should and should not do in their classrooms.
