Coaching for the leader carrying the AI decision
AI coaching is confidential mentoring for the school leader coordinating an AI response. It gives that leader a structured sounding board for decisions, stakeholders and next steps, with the likely outcome of greater clarity while the school retains responsibility for decisions.
How it works
Sessions are structured 1:1 conversations built around current leadership questions rather than a fixed curriculum. Work can include listening to staff concerns, clarifying a decision and preparing how to communicate it without presenting AI adoption as inevitable.
Coaching may help a leader sequence awareness, safe exploration and capability-building before seeking wider commitment. It can also help the leader frame change in terms colleagues value, while making room for disagreement and for decisions not to use AI.
This is distinct from Training and Workshops, which builds a whole staff's skill in a room, and from Project Momentum, which is a structured cohort with peers. Coaching is one leader, working through their own decision, on their own timeline.

Yes. Training builds staff skill in a room; this is ongoing 1:1 support for the person leading the decision.

Coaching can help a leader clarify a decision, prepare stakeholder conversations and maintain a manageable sequence of next steps. It does not guarantee staff agreement or organisational impact.
03What if my staff seem resistant to AI?
The work starts by understanding the concern rather than labelling it as a barrier. A valid outcome may be clearer guardrails, a smaller test, more consultation or a decision not to proceed with a particular use.
04Can coaching provide legal, safeguarding or technical approval?
No. Coaching supports leadership thinking and does not replace legal advice, safeguarding leadership, data protection review, security assessment or approval through the school’s governance arrangements.
05Where does coaching fit in the sequence?
It can run alongside discovery and strategy when a named leader needs individual support. Whole-staff training serves a different purpose and should follow clear goals and boundaries rather than being used to make unresolved governance decisions.
